Obituary of Michael D. Painter

Mr. Painter, 72, of West Columbia passed away peacefully on May 26, 2018. He was born in Greenwood, SC to the late Reginald D. Painter and Mildred J. Painter He graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School and the University of South Carolina. He worked for 47 years for Allied Chemical, Allied Fibers, Honeywell, and Shaw Industries, all at the same location on St. Andrews Road Columbia SC. He was a man of many interests, but most of all he loved to read, not fiction, but books and magazines about history. He had an extensive library and enjoyed sharing books with others who loved history. He also loved Lake Murray and as a child learned to water ski and continued that sport for many years as an adult. He also was a certified scuba diver and enjoyed diving in Florida. Travel was also his hobby and he visited many states, several countries in Europe and most countries in the Carribbean. Michael dearly loved his family and was in return dearly loved by them. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cynthia, son Chris and his wife Julie, 3 grandchildren, Katie(Aaron)Healey, Leigh Anne(Kel)Minton and Curtis Painter; 3 great-grandchildren Carter, Callie, and Claire Healey. The family will honor his request that there be no funeral service.
