He was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, uncle and brother.  He loved to travel and took his family on many interesting vacations. He loved Gamecock football and his dogs Brook, Lynn, Lucy and Ricco.  He will be remembered for his caring, smart and personable demeanor.

Bob attended the University of South Carolina and earned a degree in accounting with honors after serving our country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He was very proud of his long military career which included assignments in Venice, Italy and all over the world.  He served active duty in Danang and at Wallace Air Base in the Phillipines.  After college, he continued to serve his country and state in the South Carolina Air National Guard’s 240th Combat Communications Squadron.  There he traveled and made many life time friends.  He retired from the State of South Carolina Department of Social Services as the Financial Services Director for Child Support Enforcement.  He was passionate about helping single parents, many times delivering child support checks to them on Christmas Eve.   He also retired from South Carolina Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Senior Financial Analyst.   Bob owned his own tax business for over twenty years.

He is survived by the love of his life, his devoted wife Aileen; his children Lori Purvis (Brian), Shannon Cruz (Hector), David Treacy and Taylor Treacy; grandchildren Bobby Purvis; Micaela Cruz and Kenneth Cruz and his siblings Arlene “Gidget” Hopf, Barbara Underhill, Regina Michener, and Sheldon Meyers, and many loving nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private celebration of his life will be held by his family and friends.  A formal military memorial service with honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia at an undetermined date.  Interment will follow.
