Obituary of Terry Eugene Godfrey

Terry Eugene Godfrey, 59, passed away May 3, 2024. He was born May 3, 1965 in York, Pennsylvania to the late Delmer Ray Godfrey and Janet Lee Murphy Godfrey. He moved to South Carolina as a child, and later graduated from Airport High School. He had a love of all things mechanical, so it was no surprise when he landed in trucks and heavy equipment. Having been called “a true fixer on earth”, he thrived on the challenge of the work and loved his co-workers at Blanchard Machinery, where he was employed for 33 years. He started on the floor as a technician, moving into service manager and then into the training and technical department. He was proud to have taught classes to not only Blanchard employees but also to dealers and customers. He held many certifications and was involved in all aspects of engines at Blanchard. He was a man who held not only himself, but also others to the highest standard. He was a hard worker and always strived for excellence.

Above all, Terry was a family man. From his family to his fur-babies, his chosen family and his friends, he was a pillar of strength, comfort and laughs. He loved to cook and entertain, enjoying the presence of those he loved. He sang in the church choir and loved all kinds of music. He cherished the time spent under the guise of guys’ night out. He was a man who loved with his whole heart and never met a stranger. He was truly an example of what unconditional love is and will be remembered for the love and support he always showed to those around him.

Those left to cherish his memories are: his wife and the love of his life for 30 years, Amanda Creel Godfrey; his beloved daughter, Amanda Dawn Godfrey Northcutt; grandson, Jonathan Lewis; beloved in-laws, Joe (Rona) Creel, Rita Creel, Leah Creel, and Bill Bunch; the best second dad a guy could ask for, Dennis Shanklin (Sheila); his chosen son, Derek Williams (Amanda); and many precious aunts, uncles and cousins from West Virginia, Pennsylvania and California.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Beulah United Methodist Church, 1577 Old State Road, Gaston, SC. Following the service will be a celebration of Terry’s life from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the family home. The celebration service will be held outside, please dress comfortably.

The family requests that contributions in memory of Terry be made to Beulah United Methodist Church.
