MARSHALL ALVIN CONNELL, JR
Marshall “Mark” Alivin Connell, Jr. passed away Monday, January 14, 2019, at Palmetto Baptist after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Mark was born May 20, 1959, in Greensboro, NC, to the late Marshall A. and Ivy Pickard Connell
He is survived by his loving wife, Wyndi Hollis Connell; Step-daughter, Stephanie P. (Nathan) .; grandchildren, Jared Madison and Lillian Crowe; mother-in-law, Marie Hollis and his sisters, Susan (Paul) Wammock and Faye Sambleson; of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, and many friends. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Bill Sambleson and his father-in-law, Frank Hollis.
Mark graduated from Ben L. Smith High School and was a veteran of the USAF. He worked at the Columbia Airport before he had to retire on disability. He had a deep respect and love for airplanes. He also loved to read, horses, and spending time at the beach. He had a beautiful voice and as a young man, he sang with a local quartet in Greensboro.
A private memorial service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held at a later date.
Mark, you are missed terribly, but it makes it easier to know you’re with God and your voice has joined the Heavenly Choir.
