Obituary of Lois Powell

Lois Jane Mays Powell of Gilbert SC gained her angel wings on Saturday March 16, 2019 after an extended illness.

She was born on December 20, 1945 in Augusta Ga. She was 73 years old. She was adopted at birth by Earl and Margaret Mays of Augusta GA.

She retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Allergy Partners of the Midlands in West Columbia SC. She has worked in retail sales, cosmetology and CNA instructor.

Lois is survived by her spouse of 23 years Susan Heywood and their adopted boys Chandler Heywood and Krystofer Heywood-Powell of the home. She is also survived by her biological children Keith Powell (Canmer Ky), Randy Powell (Aiken SC), Michael Powell (N. Augusta SC) and Catrina Benenhaley (Lexington SC), brother Charles Mays (Hephzibah Ga). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 11 Great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Scott Mays.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations are given to your favorite charity in memory of her.

A celebration of life will be held at Garden of Grace UCC 1020 Atlas Road, Columbia SC 29209, March 24, 2019 from 2 – 4 pm.
